Last night made me actually like my life again. I was sitting in Quencher’s with Elissa and Joe and some guy rocks up and give us free Cubs tickets for last night’s game! Awesome. Cubs fans are such a weird mix between really friendly and totally rude. Like we’ll all smile at each other whilst yelling curses at the players and other fans. There was a fight in the stand, which everyone really enjoyed - the Cubbies were batting but everyone was just watching these two chicks go at it.
Anyway, I was just glad that working full time hasn’t crushed my spirit enough that I’m not willing to randomly go to a Cubs game. That’s kind of one of my biggest fears - that I will just want to go home and watch TV every night and go to bed at 10. And sometimes I can really feel it starting to happen, which is when I almost quit because you only go around once and, while I love TV, that’s just no way to live.
Apparently, the way we got the tickets was that a set of four company tickets was broken up into to pairs, and the guy who handed them off to us was part of one pair. So when the guys next to us sat down, one was like, “Hi!” and I was like, “Hi.” He said, “We’ve met before.” Color me embarrassed. “You’re Jody, right?” “Um, no.” Apparently Jody has short red hair and since she was supposed to be at the game, he just presumed. I learned later that Jody is a bit huskier than myself, so I was also getting points for having lost the weight. We missed them after they left because they’d been blocking quite a bit of wind.
