Cheap Art!
This is not going to be a terribly useful post. [Edit: Now useful!] Though I’m thrilled to bits about my art I just got (story below), I am unable to locate the Slog that I found it on, or how to get more, despite having the artist’s mailing address. [Edit: Now found!] It’s a little absurd and the reason why I’m drinking a beer at the moment. Anyway…
The other week I read about this guy who makes vaguely mass-produced art in Brooklyn. That is, he creates these huge walls of art every day and sells them inexpensively. In the Slog he said something to the effect of this, “Art should be like buying a CD; it can change your life, but it’s not a huge investment.” So you can buy a small piece for $8 and a larger one for $12. I bought one of each. Surprise me, then, when I received not two but fourteen pieces of art, ranging in size.
Apparently, this guy has done a lot of artwork for bands, so there are some music-related items. The best: a rendering of The Clash’s London Calling. It’s like he knew what I would like.

Edit: Just Kidding! Thanks to Jeremy’s amazing memory, we realized that I was talking about it during Market Days, which thanks to the Internet, I learned that it was August 5-6. Equipped with this knowledge, I was able to find the correct Slog date. Here are the links:
