Today’s Fun Melbourne Fact
I went to the Safeway grocery store today - somehow managing to come away with only a loaf of sourdough, a piece of Brie, a thing of butter, some yogurt, and a head of romaine. So, I’ve got dairy covered. Not sure what I’m planning to eat with that lettuce, though.
The Safeway had an aisle of ethnic foods, and, shockingly enough, they had a Mexican section. I wish I’d taken a picture (but there was an employee in the aisle and you’re not allowed to take pictures inside grocery stores) because the “Mexican” section was entirely comprised of approximately 15 different Old El Paso products. There were two sizes of tortillas, some sauces in jars, and god knows what else.
Seriously, there is a market to be tapped into down here.
In other news, I’m a little bit more culture shocky today now that the hunt for homes has set in. I like the people I already know, not these people I don’t know who get to judge my fitness as a housemate. Culture shock may, in this case, equal homesickness. Day two!
Edit:
Here are the photos, surreptitiously captured. They make up in awesomeness what they lack in form.

I would pay good money for a picture of the Mexican section. Please!

I will duly attempt to take an illicit picture. God you’re demanding, Neil.

Yes, please illicit a photo for me. And if you have a desire to learn about architecture, or Sydney, this is a good blog.
