Various News, Both Amusing and Sad
Not about me, actually.
Firstly, apparently Scooter Libby’s lawyer broke down into sobs during his closing statement.
“This is a man with a wife and two children; he is a good person,” Mr. Wells told the jury in his final words. “He’s been under my protection for the last month. I give him to you. Give him back to me.”
With that, Mr. Wells teared up, sobbed audibly and sat down.
Oh barf is all I have to say about that. What’s the worst that could possibly happen to Libby? He goes to a cushy pen for a few months before being pardoned? Please, Scoot is no Tom Robinson. I can’t imagine a cause for which tears by a defense attorney are less appropriate.
Secondly, Italy’s government may be about to tragically and hysterically collapse, yet again! Italy has had something like 40-50 governments since WWII (the site I looked at seemed to have too many on there, so I don’t have an exact number, but it was 39 in 1998). And Prodi turned in his resignation after losing by two votes! Man, good thing that’s not how America’s run; we can keep having the same stupid debate with the same useless leaders over and over and over…
I don’t have much to report for myself other than that I bought new shoes and got a bike. I’ll have pictures of the bike later. Try not to cry with anticipation and longing for Scooter Libby.
Seriously, who cries during a closing statement?
Oh wait, the NYT has the best picture of Scooter ever. Either that man in the front is huge, or Scoot is 3′11″.
