Water… Nowhere in Melbourne
The water situation in Melbourne is so bad that I actually pray for rain when I see clouds. The city had been in drought for several years when I had been down here last time, and the situation has only deteriorated over time. You can’t water your lawn or garden, wash your car, etc. Check out some pictures below:

The thing is that as much is being said about limiting garden distribution, there is little being said about showers or toilets. All toilets in Australia have an option to half flush, which takes care of the basics. You only need a real flush if - well I had some joke about curry, but too vulgar.
Here’s the thing though, we’re going to be at Stage 4 by June, unless we somehow get a week’s worth of rain, which given the amount of rain we’ve had so far, just isn’t going to happen. So old ladies can’t water their gardens, but I can still take 45 minute showers. Something strange is going on here, and there’s no doubt that Melbourne is on the front lines of global warming, but everyone treats it like it’s just a temporary drought (10 years?) that might get better.
Meanwhile, I look up at clouds and hope for rain.
