I’m sitting down to write a paper tonight. And although I’ve written only the introduction, I’m not worried, because I’ve created a lovely graphic for the cover. Why, you might be temped to ask, would I do this when it is certain to have almost no impact on my grade? Firstly, because it was far more exciting than things that I’ve written thus far. Most of it’s stuff like this:
As the trailer and website appear to play on specifically American ideas regarding the sexuality of women and African-American males, [this paper] will utilize a cross-cultural analysis to demonstrate how culturally specific references might impact reception of advertisements.
Zzzzzz.
This graphic, however, is thrilling:

It’s concerning that the girl seems a little crooked, but that wasn’t my fault.
Oh, and it might not all be for naught. Given the subtlety and complexity she’s demonstrated this semester, this graphic might thrill my lecturer right into an H1.

I don’t like it.
I love it.
You should post some of the paper when you’re done. I’m actually writing a paper right now for a class that I’ll be posting tomorrow, but I don’t have any fancy graphics for it.

I appreciate your optimism about the quality of my paper, but we’ll have to see about that.
It’s mostly going to be ‘how many theorists can I namedrop in the space of 4,000 words’?
p.s. - may I suggest making graphics for everything? I’m working on one for my trip to the kitchen to make breakfast.
