Thwarted II
I was just looking at Jill’s myspace page because she’s awesome and because she posted a bulletin for kickball prom.
We all know how much I love proms:
And I was thinking how great it’d be to join/start a kickball group here. And then I remembered Australia’s one fatal flaw (aside from Howard’s new NT policies - they’re an utter disgrace, and I hope in his heart he feels ashamed):
No baseball diamonds.
You can’t play kickball on the footy field or cricket pitch! Damnation!
Luckily, Violeta and I have decided to play/learn tennis, which if anyone remembers tennis from Mr. Stanton’s gym class, is a decidedly bad idea.
God, we were terrible. Eventually, we all just gave up and played one communal game of tennis for about four weeks. Even with 20 of us per side we still couldn’t hit the freakin’ ball. Neil reads this regularly. Were you in my gym class that year? What was the point of that nonsense?
Mr. Stanton was an amazing basketball coach, though. Oh yeah! Jess was in that class, too. He would just put you in a spot and be like, “That’s your spot,” and, if you stood just there, you could not miss the basket. It was utter insanity.
Alright! Well, my coffee’s apparently kicked in at 10:30pm. Time to do this week’s readings… and some of last week’s!
Confidential to Anthony Giddens: Radical, my ass. You’re a jet-setting, neoliberal, technological determinist and you know it.
Take that!
Yep. Coffee has definitely kicked in.

No, we were merged into the general population with you proles in everything except Division.
Hmm, I vaguely remember Mr. Chism, which is to say, I have a recollection of a not very bright man with that name. That explains the complete lack of direction during the tennis unit.

Oh yeah and: A baseball diamond is a a square 90 feet on the side (or smaller!). You just need four shirts/cones/piles of rocks and you’re good to go.

but you do have 90 feet square in that roundabout

Oh man! Roundabout kickball would be just as good as roundabout bbqs.
I think it’s too small though. Damnation!
