The Things I Do
Here is a list of the things I have done tonight that are not my enormous amounts of reading (did I mention I’m sitting in on another class? What the hell?)
- Laundry (only counts for half because I read while I was at the laundry mat) (1 hour)
- Put away clothes (5 minutes)
- Cleaned bathtub (5 minutes)
- Reorganized and decorated room - including hanging a poster entitled ’salad greens’ (1 hour)
- Cleaned my desk (10 mins)
- Solved the problem of the mirror being too low by finding a box and putting the mirror on top of it (5 minutes, including 2 minutes spent investigating the contents of the box. I now know where the mosquito coils are located.)
- Thought about vacuuming room and decided against it (30 seconds)
- Ate dinner (20 minutes - we were sent home with soup from work)
- Decided that a cup of tea would offset the 1/3 glass of wine I’d had so that I would be well-prepared for reading (2 minutes)
- Decided that I should wait for tea to kick in and watch a small portion of an episode of The West Wing (Season 3) (5 minutes)
- Watched rest of episode (38 minutes)
- Searched for dining room table on ebay while watching second West Wing (41 minutes)
- Decided on second cup of tea (2 minutes)
- Tried to remember reels in the living room while kettle boiled (2 minutes)
- Decided that I’d remember reels easier with my soft shoes on (30 seconds)
- Put on soft shoes (3 minutes)
- Moved from reels to slip jigs (5 minutes)
- Retrieved cup of tea (1 minute)
- Got out book to do reading (30 seconds)
- Figured this would be a good time to learn the chords to “Love Will Tear Us Apart” by Joy Division (1 minute)
- Gave up looking for good tab because the song is mostly based on keyboard (5 minutes)
- Searched for “Long Journey” by Emmylou Harris instead (3 minutes)
- Transposed until the high notes sat at the top of my belt (presumably annoying neighbors) (15 minutes)
- Sat down to do reading and read two paragraphs (30 seconds)
- Blogged (10 minutes)
Well, if that doesn’t add up to six hours I missed something, but rest assured I am caffeinated, chipper (result of Irish dancing and salad greens poster), and the biggest procrastinator I’ve ever met.

Well if you were here I wouldn’t have to jump around the lounge room alone.
