Apologia
White House use of the political apologia during the Clinton era was particularly high, as was, notably, the number of scandals.
For my part, I am issuing an apologia (though it may be short-lived) to the library of the University of Melbourne. Generally, there is much ranting, wailing and gnashing of Media Comm’s collective teeth over the lack of resources contained in the Ballieu Library. Many a time has, “Okay! Who recalled __________? I just got that out yesterday!” been shouted out across a classroom. Checking out books is practically a competitive sport; your timing is essential.
There were similar grumblings last night as I was unable to retrieve a seemingly useful article for my paper due Friday. There was no online copy of the journal, and Ballieu didn’t hold it for the year I needed. I sent off an interlibrary loan request, sure that it would never get here in time. Under twenty-four hours later, I am the proud owner of a .pdf of “Mediating Hillary Rodham Clinton”. Incredible.
So, kudos to the MelbUni library, and my apologies for the never-ending stream of abuse directed your way. I can see that you do appreciate your post-grads.
Then again, really the uni that did the scanning is my savior. Melbourne didn’t do anything. Ha!
I should really just shut up and actually read the article.
ps - I am also the proud owner of way more lentil soup than I meant to make. Holy crap.
