Sekula-Gibbs Loses In Uncreative Primary
Oh, darn. Texas Republican Shelly Sekula-Gibbs lost her primary for Tom DeLay’s old seat. Few will remember Sekula-Gibbs’ highly successful two months as DeLay’s replacement in 2006. Well, DeLay’s staff undoubtedly remembers, as they all resigned rather than work for her.
And then she had them all investigated.
With Sekula-Gibbs candidacy goes continuing references to my favorite Wonkette story of all time. She ran in 2006 as a write-in, and her name… it’s a little difficult. Wonkette helpfully published a list of submissions that counted in Sekula-Gibbs’ favor:
Voters cast their write-in ballots for, among others: Kelly Segula Gibbs, Snelly Gibbr, Schikulla Gibbs, Sheila Gibbs, Shelly Schulla Gibbs, Shelly Gibkula and, by someone who obviously never wanted the joy of using the machine to end, ShelleySkulaGibbsssss.
Pareene left for last, as he put it, ‘perhaps the best political name of all time’ -’Shelly DraculaCunt Gibs‘
That was put in the + column for S-G! Somehow, I don’t think that’s what the voter had in mind, but every vote counts, right Shelly?
I have no idea why - perhaps the fabulous vaginal dentata imagery - but I have found the phrase ‘DraculaCunt’ unceasingly hilarious for a year and a half.
I heartily wish Sekula-Gibbs the best of luck in 2010.
