Presidential Candidate Convention Fashions
What a speech. I laughed, I cried. It was great. I think I know who I’m voting for now.
Obama went red tie, which didn’t surprise me since I read this morning that he’d be hitting the Bush Admin pretty heavy in the speech.
I thought about arrogantly posting my prediction until I realized that I could write this paragraph nearly as arrogantly after the fact, but without the possibility of being wrong.
Man! The Obama campaign is on fire when it comes to outfit coordination!
We’re going after the jump because there are LOTS of photos and screen captures!
Gore and Durbin both toed the party tie:
My apologies to Senator Durbin for that screencap - he’s a great senator and a stellar human.
Not sure what happened to John Kerry though - once again, he appears not to have gotten the message from the Democratic Party:
But let’s move on to the main event. Here’s Joe Biden, striping it blue. But not the hopey blue, but a strong, resolute blue (and, seriously, has Joe Biden ever taken a bad photo? Random screencaps are awesome!)
This tie is mirrored by the candidate, perhaps tying their ticket together visually. One important difference though - red:
Here’s the best part though - the entire family is coordinated! Check this shit out:
I just realized it now, but the kids were coordinated with turquoise dress Michelle Obama on the night she spoke as well. Barack Obama wasn’t wearing a tie on the live feed that night.
I didn’t see last night when he came out - but I know Michelle Obama was wearing blue, so I’ll have to look tomorrow.
Anyway, suffice to say the Obama campaign is definitely putting some time and effort into the outfits of their candidates and surrogates.
[Allie, the awesome bartender at Libation - where I am dutifully blogging on a Friday night - says to tell both of you hi. Dave just plugged in my computer, so he gets a shout out, too.]
[Jesus, also hello to Mary Helen - with whom I watched the speech - and Mick, her boyfriend. They are also here and very, very demanding.]
I better quit whilst the Internet still has space to accommodate the accolades I need to hand out after a couple beers.
My screencaps are from MSNBC, to whom I give thanks for streaming the coverage live and streaming it in Oz.
